This project introduces students to the dynamic world of manga art, combining expressive drawing, character design, and visual storytelling. Students will explore how to develop original characters and scenes in their own manga-inspired style.
Students will:
Learn the basics of manga anatomy and facial expressions, focusing on proportion, style variation, and emotion.
Practice character design, including outfit, hairstyle, and personality development.
Explore inking and line techniques to create clean, expressive outlines typical of manga illustration.
Apply panel layout and composition, understanding how to direct the viewer’s eye and build visual flow in manga scenes.
Experiment with screen tones, shading, and effects to add depth and mood using traditional or digital tools.
Create an original manga illustration or short comic page, combining all learned skills into a polished final piece.
