This project focuses on guiding students through the full creative process of designing a poster—from concept development and planning to composition and final rendering. It provides an in-depth practice of both art and design thinking, helping students learn how to turn an initial idea into a compelling visual piece that communicates information while meeting aesthetic goals.

Students will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of design elements and techniques, including layout, typography basics, contrast, balance, and color use.

  • Explore the full creative process, from brainstorming and sketching to refining ideas and preparing a polished presentation.

  • Develop strategic thinking in visual expression—understanding how to make design choices that support the message and impact.

  • Build confidence using references and mixed materials, applying them purposefully to support the visual concept.

  • Apply design principles and structural clarity to create a well-organized and engaging composition.

  • Understand how visual cues and design elements guide the viewer’s attention and deliver meaning—whether it’s a story, message, or metaphor.

  • Demonstrate core art skills, including drawing, coloring, blending, and stylization, to effectively render the final poster.

This project encourages students to think like designers, using both creativity and structure to produce artwork that speaks clearly and powerfully to its audience.
